Scandinavian Midsummer Festival

June 26 & 27, 2010

Scandinavians celebrate the summer solstice - the longest day of the year - with a festival of music, flowers, and food.  This traditional Scandinavian event is recreated in Estes Park each year the last weekend in June.

Festivities begin on Saturday morning in downtown Bond Park, with the raising of the Maypole. The event officially opens at 10 a.m. with a colorful opening ceremony, a processional of the national flags, and a parade of costumes.  The day continues with non-stop entertainment provided by a variety of folk dance groups and Scandinavian musicians. There are many opportunities for audience participation, when the young and the young-at-heart can kick up their heels and join in the dancing. The park is filled with booths offering Scandinavian food and crafts of all kinds.   All daytime activities of the festival are free and open to the public.
